June has been a bad month, a very bad month. The fasting went out of sinc and no training. That’s right, no training in June at all. But now it’s July and I need to get back to working this old body
You may ask why did I have a month off training, and I’ll tell you. If you have read my blog in the past you will know that I have suffered from Multiple Sclerosis for over 28 years and I usually get by quite well, but over the past couple of months I have been under a lot of pressure and stress at work. Stress should be avoided if possible, it is one of the things that can affect people that suffer from MS, it always makes me very tired, I start to lose my concentration, and generally makes me feel like poo.
MS can be a terrible illness for a lot of people. I consider my self very lucky, most of the time I can live a relatively normal life free from most of the symptoms and pain. I have a wife and family that when I am ill look after me and put up with me being more than just a little bit grumpy, the symptoms usual only last 3 or 4 week at a time ( even though when I was first diagnosed with MS I spent 11 month in hospital ) and I have the opportunity to work, socialise, exercise and do the things that normal people do.
When the MS gets a hold of me I have to go into a state of hibernation and all I do is work and sleep, I usually find that by making these changes to my lifestyle I get back to normal within 3-4 weeks.
While I have not been training I have tried to stick to the Paleo Diet where I could, but sometimes when you can’t cater for your self you have to eat what other people prepare for you. I have also not been fasting while I have been under the weather, I don’t know why I didn’t fast, but I just didn’t feel like going without food while I was feeling so I’ll.
Now generally in our house everyone eats a good diet, even though I am the only person that eats Paleo most of the time. This has resulted in me not gaining loads of weight while I’ve not been training, in fact I have only put about 2lb on, so I am happy.
My return to training will be a gradual thing because the last thing that is need is to make myself ill again. I will just be training 2 or 3 times a week to start with and the training will be light and gentle. I will also start my fasting again but only once a week initially then building back up to 3 times a week.
So onward and upwards, back to the training and the rest of my life
I also hope to start posting onto the blog on a regular basis once again, so please keep following my progress and updates.
